The Science Behind the Bags

Whether made out of heavy cloth or paper, vacuum cleaner bags are effective at trapping and collecting dirt and debris from carpets around the home. The bags are created from a porous material and act as air filters.

There are actually thousands of tiny holes in each bag which are large enough to let air filter through but too small to allow debris to fall out. Subsequently, when the air stream moves through the bag, it continues out but the dirt and debris collect inside the bag. Regardless of where you place the bag on the vacuum, it needs to be able to receive air flow in order to work properly. This applies to both upright and canister models.
